The four types
We've added three new types of engraving laminate to Lasersheets, each with different properties. Which will you choose?
In short, these are the new engraving laminates: Premium Engraving Laminate, high-quality and suitable for outdoor use. Then there's Transparent Engraving Laminate, for designs where light plays a role. And Engraving Foil is very special because it's flexible and has an adhesive layer.
That brings us to four types. Below, we'll quickly tell you which one to pick for what.
First up: how does engraving laminate work?
Engraving laminate is made up of two colour layers. A coloured top layer and a contrasting base layer. Your laser burns away the thin top layer when engraving, revealing the core underneath.
Everything in this collection is LaserGrade, so it's tested for both laser cutting and engraving. All types work with CO₂ lasers; most are made from PMMA, which isn't suitable for diode lasers.
Economy Engraving Laminate: indoor projects and large runs
The workhorse version, ABS-based. Nine colour combinations, 1.5 mm thick, up to 120×60 cm. You can also engrave the black-core variants with a diode laser, making this the most accessible sheet in our range.
Perfect for nameplates, cable tags, control panels, door signs, keyrings, and price tags. Note: in direct sunlight, the colour may fade over time — if it needs to go outdoors, choose Premium.
Premium Engraving Laminate: for lasting results
Same principle, but made from PMMA (Acrylic). Colourfast and UV-resistant, so it's suitable for outdoor use: house number signs, wayfinding, name plaques, and facade signs. Also a popular choice for museum plaques, locker numbering, price plates, and personalised work where finish matters.
Eight colour combinations, including light blue and light green. CO₂ only.
Transparent Engraving Laminate: for illuminated and high-end signage
A transparent acrylic core with a coloured black or white layer underneath. You engrave into the colour layer and look through clear acrylic at your text: sleek and chic.
Strong in combination with LED. The clear material conducts light, so edge-lit signs, dashboards, and front panels truly shine. Also suitable for CE plates and information boards. 1.5 mm, from 20×30 to 60×40 cm. CO₂ only.
Engraving Foil: when you want to stick it on something
The same two-layer PMMA construction, but 0.2 mm thin, flexible like sturdy paper, and equipped with an adhesive layer with protective film. Engrave, cut out, peel off the film, stick it on.
Perfect for labels, QR codes, instruction stickers, wayfinding, and nameplates in places where a sheet is too thick or heavy. Five colours, including lilac and metallic bronze. Store the sheets flat: a crease will remain visible and cause problems on the laser bed.

In summary: Economy for indoor projects and large runs at the lowest price, Premium if it's going outdoors or needs to keep its colour for years, Transparent for illuminated and high-end signage, and Engraving Foil if you want to stick the result onto something.
