Not all materials can be laser cut with a diode laser, but this one can. We have extensively tested this material on our own diode lasers and approved it.
Please note; how thick your laser can cut this material depends on your laser power. Thicker sheets requires more power!
This thoroughly colored wood fiberboard is inexpensive, strong and (often) requires no finishing.
Please note that the color of this sheets varies from batch to batch between dark gray and black. There may also be small brown fibers in the wood.
Properties Colored MDF is a homogeneous material with relatively high hardness and rigidity. Compared to normal MDF, it is a lot heavier and slightly stronger. The surface is smooth and equal on both sides. It is not waterproof but does not discolor and remains relatively strong when wet.
Applications Both technically and aesthetically favorable properties make it useful for many applications. Some examples include engineering prototypes, enclosures and other constructions, and signing.
LaserGrade materials are tested by us for cutting quality. Whether a material is suitable for your machine depends on the type of laser and wattage. In the table below you can see what minimum power you need per thickness.
