A plastic specially developed for engraving. It consists of a transparent acrylic core with a coloured layer beneath. Ideal for both laser cutting and engraving.
Due to the transparent core, this material is only suitable for CO₂ lasers and not for diode lasers.
Properties
Transparent engraving laminate is made of two layers of acrylic: a transparent core and a coloured layer on the back. If you engrave the back, the coloured layer is locally removed, making the material translucent and matte in that spot. The front remains glossy and transparent, and through it, you will see a high-contrast engraving emerge, creating an interesting depth effect.
These sheets are extruded, which means they have a very uniform thickness, also known as low thickness tolerance. Extruded sheets are therefore more stable in thickness than conventional cast sheets.
Laser-cut edges become shiny, clear, and neat. Laser engravings become translucent and matte. Engravings are highly legible; transparent engraving laminate with a black backing layer provides more contrast than the white variant.
Suitable for indoor and outdoor use, break-resistant and UV-stable, up to 82°C.
Laser Suitability
LaserGrade CO₂: white and black Not suitable for diode lasers (due to the transparent core)
Applications
This material is specially made for engraving and is used for signage, wayfinding, front panels, and edge-lit objects. By illuminating an engraving, it comes to life. Multiple light sources are possible, such as daylight, LED light from the side, or light shining through the sheet from behind.
Perfect for visual applications where light and depth make the difference: illuminated nameplates, dashboards, decorative logos, and atmospheric wayfinding. This material also works excellently for type plates, CE plates, and information signs.
