Not all materials can be laser cut with a diode laser, but this one can. We have extensively tested this material on our own diode lasers and approved it.
Please note; how thick your laser can cut this material depends on your laser power. Thicker sheets requires more power!
Properties MDF is a pressed and glued wood fiberboard. It is relatively heavy, but also rigid and strong. It is homogeneous (the material is equally strong in all directions and places) and has low thickness tolerances (the thickness varies only slightly).
Applications Due to its low cost and strength, MDF is ideal for all kinds of projects and prototypes. It is the most obvious choice for objects that will be finished or painted after laser cutting, or where finishing is not necessary. MDF is also a suitable material for technical applications such as 3D printer bodies. Some examples of applications:
Form studies
Furniture
3D sculptures
Scale models
Mechanical structures
Section models
LaserGrade CO₂
Suitable for laser cutting with CO₂ laser from
20 watt
at sheet thickness 1.0 mm
LaserGrade diode
Suitable for laser cutting with diode laser from
15 watt
at sheet thickness 1.0 mm
LaserGrade materials are tested by us for cutting quality. Whether a material is suitable for your machine depends on the type of laser and wattage. In the table below you can see what minimum power you need per thickness.
