Material suitable for Laser Cutting

No toxic gases when lasering

What is LaserGrade?

The design possibilities for laser cutting are endless, but the materials unfortunately are not. The hallmark LaserGrade provides assurance that material is suitable for laser cutting.

We have been following all developments for 12 years and offer you the best of the market, our materials we also use in our own laser productions.

Why LaserGrade?

Not all materials are suitable for laser cutting

Laser cutting is the controlled burning away of a material. With the right material, you can make fantastic creations, but not every material is suitable.

Some materials are dangerous to laser cut, they can cause fire or toxic gases.

Whether a material is suitable depends on several material properties and your machine. All materials in our range we have tested ourselves, and also use for our own laser productions.

Hazardous materials: Toxic gases

Never laser material that has PVC in it, because it releases toxic gases. For example, PVC is in artificial leather and vinyl sheets.

Good extraction is important when laser cutting, but it does not help against toxic gases.

Hazardous materials: Flammable

There are materials that catch fire when they are laser cut. This creates a dangerous situation and can destroy your machine.

Unsuitable material

There are also materials that are simply not suitable for laser cutting. A laser beam will not pass through them, or will only cause unsightly spots.

Some materials are suitable for a CO₂ laser, but not for a diode laser. We indicate this with two different icons.

What is the difference between CO₂ and Diode?

Laser cutting can be done with different types of machines. The difference is in the laser source. CO₂ and diode are the most commonly used laser sources.

CO₂ lasers cut through many different materials through, but these machines are used less by individuals.

Diode lasers are widely used by individuals, but with these you can do a little less materials cutting.

LaserGrade CO2

materials with this label are suitable for machines with a CO₂ laser source.

LaserGrade diode

materials with this mark are suitable for machines with a Diode laser source.

LaserGrade geen diode

materials with this mark are not suitable for machines with a Diode laser source.

Can I laser any sheet thickness?

No. The wattage of your machine determines what thickness you can laser cut. The more watts your machine has, the thicker you can cut.

LaserGrade So you are not told what thickness you can go up to. You have to find this out for yourself, in this blog we explain how to do that..

LaserGrade CO2

This material is suitable and safe for your CO₂ laser cutter!

That means we, Lasersheets, tested and approved this material extensively on our own lasers.

Note; how thick your laser can cut this material depends on your laser power. For thicker sheets requires more power!

LaserGrade diode

This material is suitable for your diode laser!

Not all materials are laserable with a diode laser, but this one is. We have tested this material extensively on our own diode lasers and found it to be good.

Note; how thick your laser can cut this material depends on your laser power. For thicker sheets requires more power!

Not suitable for diode lasers

LaserGrade geen diode

Not suitable for diode lasers

materials with this icon are NOT suitable for Diode lasers.

Even with multiple passes you will NOT get through this (cleanly) with a diode laser.
